Softball Closes Regular Season with Sweep of Fitchburg State

Fitchburg, Mass. - The Framingham State University softball team swept a MASCAC doubleheader this afternoon with Fitchburg State taking the opener 7-3 before closing the day with an 8-0 victory in six innings.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS 

  • In the opener, the Rams took a 3-0 lead in the top of the first on a three run homer from Ava Gray, but the Falcons got a run back in the bottom of the inning. 

  • Ellie Etemad-Gilbertson drove in a run in the top of the second pushing the lead to 4-1, but the Falcons added a single run in the third. 

  • The Rams added a pair of unearned runs in the bottom of the fourth and a sacrifice fly from Maddie Blette in the seventh to account for their final runs in the game. 

  • Peyton Farris earned the victory in the circle going seven innings, allowing three runs, two earned, on nine hits. 

  • Etemad-Gilbertson finished the game 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored. 

  • In game two, the Rams took a 3-0 lead in the top of the first on a two-run double from Jocelyn Pepe and an RBI single from Amanda Roche. 

  • The Rams added three more in the fourth to lead 6-0. Pepe plated two more with her second double of the game, and Blette added an RBI single. 

  • Audrey Gauthier earned the victory in the circle, going five innings allowing no runs on two hits with  five strikeouts.
